Merry Christmas!!!

Feliz Navidad all! We had a very tame Christmas this year as our new addition is getting ready to enter this world, (tomorrow in fact). We stayed in Virginia for the first time ever. I am now 30 and have never spent Christmas away from the Heim house. Needless to say it was certainly less chaotic but equally as special. We had a relaxing Christmas eve and watched the Polar Express. Tommy's mouth was agape the entire movie. Lets remember it is a movie with a train... All in all it was a wonderful holiday.

We put Tommy down for the night and got busy laying out Santa's treats!
It was time to get up and Tommy wasn't quite ready for the lights but certainly ready to open his gifts!
It is tradition in the Heim house to sit at the front stairs and see if Santa has come so Tommy and daddy patiently waited while mommy checked to see if Tommy was a good boy this year!
All Tommy really asked for was Donald and Douglas the twin Engines from THomas the train. He was ecstatic when Santa delivered his request and to be honest that was all he needed. As soon as the trains were opened all he wanted to do was play with them. It took some coaxing to get him to open the rest of his presents!
The discovery of loot.
The scooter, as requested.

He also got a kid friendly camera which he took quite a liking to. Every time he would take a picture he would check the back for the digital read out and say ooooh!!!
Baby will be here tomorrow so we will be sure to post and let you all know how the Egerer's are doing!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

First Day of Pre-School

So today was Tommy's first day of pre-school. His new school is called Rainbow Station. The boy was so excited he couldn't stand it. We started the morning with a hearty bowl of Fruit Loops and a Flinestones vitamin. He was ready to go:) I dropped him off no problem. The only problem that we did have was that I got all misty eyed and he didn't!!! He meshed in very smoothly without a fuss. He had a great productive morning. He got to make wrapping paper, play red light green light and have lunch with all of his new friends. He did have a rough spot during the quiet/nap time as he doesn't typically rest until 2:00 and they were all going down at 12:00. Other than that it was smooth sailing and he told me he liked it. Good things here to come I am sure! He spent the remainder of the afternoon calling me Miss Janet, not too sure why, and singing Jingle Bells. I think all in all it was a successful first day:) Tommy may have been more excited about his backpack and wearing it than actually going to school.

And he is off. Note the backpack is almost as big as he is!

Handy Chef

Tommy is all about helping as of late. The other night he got out his cooking utensils and said that he wanted to make rice. I think he will be a natural. One only hopes that he will have better culinary skills than his mother, maybe he will follow in the footsteps of his Gigi and Uncle John.

Decorating the Tree with Dad

Last week we got our tree up and decorated. I of course did a brunt of the work and left a few remaining for my favorite two boys. Daddy got to put up his USMC ornament and Tommy had his three "Cars" ornaments that he hung on the bottom right in a row. He was very pleased with his work and loved that he got to share this Christmas moment with his dad.

Turkey Day (We are a little behind)!

Okay these are a little out of order and a little behind! Yesterday we went to get our Christmas tree. Our intent was to cut it down at the local tree farm but we didn't like what was available so we got an already cut tree. Tommy was still equally excited about making the choice for Santa's tree. We have been discussing Santa coming if he is a good boy and he has been requesting "Douglas and Douglas," ( for those of you unfamiliar with Tommy speak that is the Thomas the trains' Donald and Douglas set).
Tommy and Daddy h ave made their choice. I of course had to give the final thumbs up.

Now to Thanksgiving! Declan Pettit came to Gigi and Pops' house for an introduction. Pops couldn't get over what a beef cake this kid is especially b/c he came out of little Katie!!! He is a doll and the Egerer family is happy to be in his life:)

The Heim family went bowling the day after Thanksgiving. Tommy enjoyed the endless running around and ball throwing with his cousins while I had difficulties bowling. I think my equilibrium was a little off. We all had a good time. Gigi below bowling with grace and style.
Tommy got a little assistance with the ramp. As soon as the ball would roll down the ramp he would run to the side and say "Go Tommy's ball, go!"

Here's a site I thought I would never see. Pops would take a practice swing with his arm, (very similar to his style in golf) then he would bowl. Needless to say the man probably hasn't been bowling in twenty years and he beat all of us!!!
The kids table for the THanksgiving feast. Eating really wasn't a priority as they all just wanted to play.
Oh and more bowling pictures of all of the crazies!
It is Tommy's contribution to the Turkey bowl as he was racked out while all of the kids and adults were outside playing. I think we have a future here!

Dad and his boys. We thoroughly enjoyed having Zack for the long holiday weekend. We know Tommy did too!
I just thought this was a nice picture so I shared. Aunt Robin, Uncle Ben and Cousin Susan.
We did attempt a Turkey Bowl football game and this is the only shot that I really got. To be honest all of the adults were over it as it was just too cold!!! Ten minutes of passing the ball and sending the kids out for some toss plays were the extent of the Turkey Bowl. Better luck next year!
